Why You Should Have Annual Grand Prairie Boilers Service

By Gregory Gray

The annual boiler service is a very important job that is best done in the warmer months of the year, but did you know around 90% of us never have the boiler serviced. The boiler for some reason seems to get forgotten until something happens, you go to have a shower and find you have no hot water. Then you start to panic trying to find someone to repair the Grand Prairie Boilers.

With an annual boiler service one of the most important checks is the flue pipe, this has to be checked to make sure all joints and seals are not leaking carbon monoxide or products of combustion into the room the boiler is located in.

The good thing now though is that all new heaters are highly efficient condensing heaters and they should save you somewhere around 35% on your fuels bills, that's a big saving, compared to the old heaters. So when it comes to replacing your boiler you will start to save on the running costs. Today there are many types of heaters to choose from, you have heat only heaters, which are open vented, where you still keep the small tank in the loft, the water is still heated via a storage tank.

The main advantages of using combination heaters for your homes are: Suitable for small houses and flats, by using them you get instant hot water at a required pressure giving you the warm water in your shower and taps, the main advantage of using combination heaters is that they are very easy to install and don't cause much disturbance. By using them in your house, you can save all the space which is generally occupied by hot want tank, most of the heaters are 90% energy efficient, saving your energy bills and environment

The expansion vessel will over time will lose pressure and will need to be recharged to keep the boiler working to its full efficiently. The expansion vessel is a very important part of the annual boiler service that needs to be checked. Once the vessel loses the charge it puts pressure on the pump, the internal water parts and the entire O rings within the boiler.

When the boiler is working for both heating and hot water, the hot water will take priority over the heating; as soon as no more hot water is required the heating will come back on. These boilers were originally designed for small properties like flats, but soon everybody wanted one fitted without understanding how they work.

Part of the annual boiler service is to check the boiler combustion rate. This is to make sure the boiler is burning gas as it was designed for, this is carried out using a flue gas analyzer which is inserted into the flue-pipe and a reading is taken, if the readings are within the heaters recommendations then no further action is required, but if the readings are out of the recommendations then further investigations are needed to find the problem.

With an annual boiler service these are just a few of the checks that need to be carried out, and because many boilers now come with long warranties, to keep the boiler warranty valid you must have an annual boiler service. Once the service has been carried out, then the engineer needs to date and sign the warranty booklet to keep the warranty valid.
