What One Should Know About Pre Employemnt Drug Testing

By Raymond Baker

The purpose of schooling is to get a job at the end of the road. Some people school up to high school. There are those who reach college or university. It is important to understand that there is no end to learning. There is always room to learn more and expand the skill set. Irrespective of educational level, one will desire gainful employment. That will only be possible if one passes the interview administered by the employer. If there is pre employemnt drug testing, this will also need to be passed so that to enter the workforce.

Thousands of companies all over the United States of America usually test potential hires for substances before they are hired. That is also the case in other countries such as Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, and Italy. The main motivation for doing so is the desire for a substance free workplace. This is the best workplace that a company can have.

A number of countries all over the world have made a substance test to be an integral part of the hiring process. That is the case in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and Canada. In the United States of America, this test is mandatory especially for people who are being interviewed for the various federal positions in America.

A substance user will be a real problem in a workplace. It is highly likely for a substance user to fall ill than a person who is not using substances. That is due to the fact that he has a lower immunity as a result of using substances for a long time. A sick employee will need to be treated using the company's insurance.

A substance user will be easily irritable. As a result, he will not easily work with other people. That kills team spirit and will make it hard to achieve goals. Such an individual is likely to enter into arguments with other employees. In the worst case scenario, he can even start fights. That will create a toxic work environment.

The world is full of addicts. Many Americans abuse drugs. Unfortunately, a good percentage of these people are employed by companies and government agencies. Marijuana is a commonly abused drug. Marijuana stays in the blood for days and months after it has been used. Thus, a regular marijuana user will still have marijuana effects even when he is not smoking.

Substances tests are getting better with the progression of time. Presently, there are state of the art tests that can detect even the smallest traces of substances. A urine test is commonly used. It is affordable and effective. It involves taking a urine sample and then testing it for the various substances. In most cases, six drugs are tested.

Drug users cost companies billions of dollars every year. That hurts the national and the global economy. Every year, millions of dollars is spent to treat substance related injuries. There are also rehabilitation costs that are also expensive. To avoid these costs, many companies normally have pre employment substance testing. This will save a company from a lot of trouble and costs.
