Locating A Firm For Amplifier Repair

By Carolyn Parker

Many people use amplifiers for various reasons and there are a lot of models available. Most musicians will use them when they are performing and they can be connected to PA and other sound systems. If this equipment becomes faulty you will need to locate a firm for amplifier repair and there are many to choose from.

Working on electrical equipment is a highly technical job and it can only be carried out by someone who has the necessary qualifications. Along with their knowledge and experience the technicians will need special tools and equipment. It is essential that you use a fully qualified engineer or carry out the repairs to the required standards at a competitive price.

Many parts and electrical components are used to build an amp and they will either use valves or solid state circuits. Some vintage guitar amplifiers are worth a lot of money and it is very important that they are well looked after and maintained. When a valuable amp needs fixing it is better to use factory original spares which will maintain the value of the amp.

When repairs to a guitar amp are necessary you can visit a guitar store and they may be able to fix your amp. A number of guitar stores will have an experienced engineer on site who can do the job in their workshop. If you need to get other types of equipment fixed you can find the contact number for an engineer in the telephone directory or you may see adverts for engineers in the local press.

The internet is another useful place to find a technician that will rectify faults with an amplifier. You can log onto the web sites and browse the lists of available services and you can email or call a firm to arrange repairs. If you plan to use a web based company you will need to pay for carriage and the amp will need to be insured against damages or loss while it is on the road.

If the manufacturer of your electrical equipment is still operating it can be worth contacting them to see if they can rectify faults. Many of the factories offer a reliable repair and maintenance service and they will have a good stock of original parts. Having the manufacturer do work may also help to maintain any warranties as well as the value of a vintage or rare amp.

When your amplifier has been fixed it is useful to keep the payment receipt which may be required. If the repair work is covered with a guarantee and you need to make a claim when a fault develops you will have to produce the receipt. When you buy any spares you should also retain the purchase receipts so that you can return or exchange an item if necessary.

To keep amplifiers in good working condition and to avoid having to pay for repairs there are things that you can do. Amps should be stored safely and covered to prevent them getting dusty when they are not in use. It is also recommended that you get amps serviced regularly by a technician and have them inspected for any faults.
