Steps With Respect To Paraffin Removal

By Eric Carter

The mining industry has ultimately shaped the petroleum industry by ensuring a constant supply of oil. During the production process, these companies face challenges. This has seen some wells being abandoned due to excessive and improper paraffin removal procedures. It is normal for the wax to accumulate in the wells which hinder effective production of oil. Though some firms still rely on traditional methods, there are substantial benefits those who use professional and modernized methods enjoy. Go through the article to get a deeper understanding.

Most traditional methods have challenges while others do not completely remove these deposits. This means that more and more of this substance will continue to accumulate causing a blockage. This impacts the whole production process thus leading to reduced revenues. Modern methods, however, ensure that constant production while dissolving any deposits that may hinder the process.

During oil extraction when deposits are encountered, it is usually referred to wax or paraffin. However, though paraffin is one of the largest constituents of these deposits, there are other substances which may be present in them. This may include sand, salt crystals, resin, gum, silt, clay, and scale. These deposits can be removed through the chemical process.

Current methods are useful. Excessive paraffin deposits accumulation can lead to oil recovery failure. This means that the production will come to a standstill. Establishing a mining plant is not cheap, it costs billions of money. This means that proper measures should be taken to reduce any chances of low production. This has led to the introduction of more efficient methods that are tailored to dissolving these deposits.

Apart from affecting oil production, paraffin deposits along pipes, tubes and production materials are known to affect the pumping and effective flow of oil. This slows down the process. There being different methods to achieve an effective oil production process, mining industries should take caution on the type of chemical solvent used. As much as these chemical are known to dissolve these deposits, they are not safe to the production equipment and may be a health threat to humans.

Well oil stimulation is also used in the wax deposit removal. The process includes domestically acquired plant based materials which provide a fully biodegradable option to traditional solvents or acid stimulation. However, these may vary depending on the mining industry. Different from solvents or acids, the process does not demand neutralization of acid agent or oil degradation. The method is intended to remove well build up by breaking down asphaltenes or paraffin deposits. In case of any condense blockage, the method dispels any water blockages thus making the production process easier.

Methods like the use of chemical solvents are known to pose a threat to human life. Some of these solvents are volatile and may evaporate to the air thus becoming a threat to the environment. Also, chemicals are known to cause corrosion. Their use can corrode the flow pipes thus leading to massive losses. Modern paraffin solvents are non-volatile and ensure that they are not only friendly to the system but also to human and the entire environment.

Use of modern kerosene removal techniques has been known to offer massive benefits to the mining industry. Unlike traditional methods, these techniques help promote oil production as well as dissolving and breaking down any kerosene deposits that may have accumulated inside the well and on the flow lines. This, in turn, helps save on storage space in transportation vessels and depot tanks.
