All Ice Fishing Houses In Minnesota Have A Couple Things In Common

By Karen Fox

Minnesota is The land of Ten Thousand Lakes. There are a lot of good views to be had. There are also a lot of fish waiting for the many anglers that live there. One of the things that is almost a necessity, especially for the coldest times of the year, is setting up for a successful fishing season. This means you will need to look into ice fishing houses in Minnesota.

The idea of sitting, on a block of ice, next to a hole you cut into it is an interesting one. You will be there, getting colder every minute until you get a bite. Then all you have to look forward to is putting fresh bait on the hook and starting all over. It really would make this an easier task if you could manage dome comfort while you wait it out.

The idea of a shelter of some kind might have jumped into your mind during the first fishing season you experienced. The ice fishing house is one such shelter that is unique in the country. You can build one or have it built. You can get ideas about what it is you want to provide yourself by taking a walk around some that are already out on your favorite lake and talking with the owners.

Most fishermen on these frozen lakes do not really believe this is a luxury. They see this as a way to feel warmer and rested while they are filling their family freezer until the next season. You can see they take this seriously as the things they have and things you can build into yours is important. It starts with the physical structure, first.

Wood is a popular material for this tiny home. Standard construction principles should be used to make it as strong as possible. They can be compared, favorably, to a shed in your backyard. They were primarily designed and used as a wind break but most of them have insulation to help keep heat inside. They are almost always sealed up as tight as their personal homes down the road.

A heat source is critical to many. This can be gas powered or run by electricity, either from a car battery or through a generator set up for this purpose. This can also power lights, a hot plate, and even a radio or television set depending on reception. This sets this space apart from sitting on the ice around a hole.

A bed is something that many people desire to have. Often set up in a bunk bed style, these can accommodate two or more people. It might also simply be a mate on the floor. Blankets and a soft place to sleep will make even the most fragile person want to stay and do what they come out here to do.

Your experience, whether it is on Cass, Otter Tail or Leech Lake, you are probably like many others who would like to be warm and comfortable while filling your family freezer. If this is not you and you would rather sit on the ice while huddled around a hole, save your money and trouble. If you, however, value your time and want to make it as productive and comfortable as possible, this is a great investment for you.
